The charitable organization ComicBooks For Kids! (CB4K) is producing its own exclusive cover variant by Timothy Lim. for the upcoming Transformers #1 reboot from IDW.
It will be sold first at C2E2 to raise money for the initiative that aims to get comic books into the hands of children in hospitals and cancer centers, and then from selected retailers after the show.
Mark Weiss, founder and president, was quoted as saying “We knew of Tim’s artwork as he has done other Transformers covers and we think you will all agree that he absolutely smashed it with this one. Similar to the Archie 700, it has the same look, feel and warmth that identifies it as a ComicBooks For Kids! cover”. Tim also created the CB4K logo that dons every variant you will see on the charity’s variants.
The post-show availability will also recognize those comic stores who have helped support CB4K with one or more fundraisers, and it will only be available from these stores:
According to Mark, ” Less than 150 copies will be available online making this book even more rare then the Archie 700 CB4K variant of which many retailers sold out of within the first few days”.
CB4K is a non-profit organization that provides comic books and graphic novels for children in hospitals and cancer centers through the U.S. The organization has delivered over 17,000 comic books to over 120 children’s hospitals and cancer centers. CB4K was awarded the Platinum GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Level this year.
They ask those looking to support CB4K and its partners to contact the retailers and to say hello to the team at C2E2.
